Annual Golf Classic and Clambake
The Annual Chesterland Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic is a major fundraiser aimed at providing golf outing participants an enjoyable day networking (and not working). Since 2008, the Annual Golf Classic has been held at St. Denis Golf Course with the price of admission also including breakfast, lunch, drinks and a Clam Bake Dinner sure to satisfy the appetites of hungry golfers and non-golfer guests. Fundraiser raffles, golf skill competitions, Hole-in-One prizes (including a new Car Giveaway), silent auctions and prizes for foursomes finishing 1st thru 3rd place require organized donation and sponsorship solicitation by committee members. The proceeds from this event support the mission and programs of the Chesterland Chamber of Commerce, including its annual Scholarship Fund Awards. All trustees of the Chesterland Chamber of Commerce are encouraged to participate in acquiring donations of gift certificates from area restaurants and businesses to ensure no golfer leaves empty handed.

If you would like to participate in the planning or help the day of the event, please contact us at ccoc@chesterlandchamber.com. The committees are as follows:
Players/Sponsors – Hold the Date! This year’s Golf Classic is scheduled for Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at St. Denis Golf Course (10660 Chardon Road in Chardon, OH). Check back here for updates as they become available. If you want to work on this committee, we welcome your assistance. The majority of the fundraising revenue comes from the efforts of this committee. You would contact potential sponsors and/or golfers. Sponsors have the option of donating dollar amounts that put them in the Gold, Silver or Bronze equivalent categories. Those having an interest in advertising their business may want to become a “Hole Sponsor” in which signage for their business is placed in the area of the tee box of a given hole(s). Sponsors may also have an interest in having their business acknowledged as sponsoring the breakfast/lunch/beer cart/keg, etc. If you’d like to be a part of this committee, please contact us at ccoc@chesterlandchamber.com.
Program/Ideas/Registration/Flier – Individuals working on this committee design the flier and registration form promoting the outing as well as the program received by participants the day of the event. “Ideas” pertains to finding ways to promote the event as being of interest to potential participants. For instance, at both the 2009 and 2010 Golf Classic there was a “Hit the Windshield” hole where participants would buy a chance to win cash by hitting an actual windshield in the middle of the fairway on their drive. If you have any other ideas to improve the fun, contact us (ccoc@chesterlandchamber.com). We’d love your input.
Golf Course Management/Cost – We work hard as a team together with St. Denis Golf Course to keep our event’s cost affordable and offer a super value to those who participate. Our goal is to increase the number of supporters and participants as word continues to spread on our Golf Classic every year. This committee is composed of one or two who coordinate the event with the management of the golf course and determine the overall budget for the outing as well as overseeing the other committees and their expenditures. We’re open to your ideas. Contact us at ccoc@chesterlandchamber.com to share them with us.
Gifts/Prizes/Games – Individuals on this committee are responsible for soliciting donations and purchasing items for giveaways, silent auction/Chinese auction/skill contest prizes, etc. They must coordinate with the Program/Ideas/Registration/Flier committee to advertise the various games and prizes on the flier and program. They also run the raffle/auction and prize giveaway portion of the outing. You don’t have to “officially” be on this committee to help us. When you are out dining or just having cocktails, please ask the establishment for a gift certificate or donation for our Annual Golf Classic. If we all start now and every member is able to obtain one donation, we’ll be off to a great start. There is plenty of time and, with the economy being what it is, you will actually be helping that establishment with their advertising and in getting additional customers through their doors. They may set up the donation any way they wish. For example, buy one/get one free, half off with a purchase – let them be creative. You have nothing to lose as you are already showing your support to that establishment just by being there. It only takes a minute for you to ask the management if they are willing to offer their support for our Chamber event. Don't limit yourself to only restaurants and bars. Why not ask for donations while you are out this summer? Don't forget to include hotels, spas, hair salons, movie theaters, amusement parks, golf courses, local area attractions, shopping malls, etc. Use your imagination. We know you will come up with more.
We will have a special gift for whoever acquires the most gift certificates/donations for our event. Wouldn't it be great if that person were you? Please help. We appreciate you acting as ambassadors on behalf of the Chamber. Accept the challenge. You could be a winner! Thank you.
